Day 329

Rutabaga Pear Bisque

Really? What maniac thought this one up? That’s the cleaned-up version of what I grumbled when work-buddy Kelly presented this to me. Not really the most gracious way to thank someone for a much-needed new food infusion. But I’m a bit deficient on the people skills, even on the best of days. Anyway, after much pooh-poohing I found that this stuff doesn’t actually taste like poo-poo. The rutabaga’s earthiness cut the sweetness just enough. Smelled like hell, though. And I’m still not really down with creamy soup.

Day 13

Butternut Squash/Rutabaga:

Thanksgiving two-fer. My mother insists on making mounds of these every year, even though they’re barely touched amidst the more decadent turkey-day offerings. I always thought they were just there for color, but it turns out both veggies are pretty good.
